Product Description:

Kana Digest is a Bevko Vitamins product that is made up of several digestive enzymes to break down food and promote digestive health. These digestive enzymes are complex proteins that the body uses to break down food, and are generally derived from pancreatic extracts. Most of these extracts are porcine (from pig); however, Bevko uses only bovine pancreatic extracts for Kana Digest.*

Suggested Use: As a food enzyme dietary supplement, take one (1) tablet with each meal and if necessary at bedtime. Do not hesitate to use two servings (2 tablets) with each meal and at bedtime if needed.

The Pancreas and Digestive Enzymes

The pancreas is an important organ in our body. It plays a huge role in digestion by secreting digestive juices, or enzymes, that help with the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. If a doctor's test shows that a person's pancreas isn't performing as it should, this person may not be secreting enough digestive enzymes to properly digest food.*

Without enough digestive enzymes, a person may have:

  • indigestion*
  • bloating with discomfort*
  • the presence of undigested food in the stool*

Use of Digestive Enzymes

Besides abdominal complaints, digestive enzymes have been used for the treatment of:

  • inflammatory diseases such as sports injuries, tendonitis, and rheumatoid arthritis*
  • bronchitis*
  • sinusitis*
  • herpes simplex*
  • pancreatitis*

Enzymes in Kana Digest

Kana Digest contains four important enzymes: amylase, lipase, protease and alpha galactosidase.

  • Amylase - breaks down starch*
  • Lipase - breaks down fats*
  • Protease - metabolizes proteins*
  • Alpha galactosidase - breaks down oligosaccharides (a type of sugar found in beans/legumes that the body cannot break down)*

Protease enzymes are especially important in the body to prevent the deposit of immune complexes in body tissues. Diseases associated with this problem are rheumatoid disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and multiple sclerosis. Proteases have been shown in some studies to be useful in these diseases.*
